John Muellner is a community leader, businessman, and former educator from Lindenhurst running for County Board to make Lake County home for working families looking to set their roots.
John is the son of two hard-working parents, who instilled in him the discipline of hard work, fiscal management, and giving back to help others. His upbringing set him on a path of public service outside of government and politics. John started his career as an elementary and early childhood educator before expanding his experience working with the next generation by becoming an educational administrator within the YMCA and YWCA.
As an Assistant Director for Young Wonders within the YWCA, he oversaw program operations for offsite school-age programs, managed and hired a staff of over 20 employees, and contributed to budget preparations and managing revenues and expenditures. In his current role with a small, family-run business that has been in Illinois nearly 70 years, John fills a number of functions in accounts receivable, procurement, inside sales, customer support, and marketing. His employer produces and distributes replacement bus parts to motorcoach operations and municipal transit agencies across the United States and Canada. “Everyday, I work with dozens of municipal transit agency administrators and mechanics, and I understand the pressure they feel to keep a high level of service and operate within a budget.”
John serves his local community extensively including as a Vice President for the Lake Villa Township Lions Club, which empowers volunteers to serve while raising funds for humanitarian causes. He also helps organize events honoring those who have served our nation as a member of the Veterans Memorial Commission Board in Lindenhurst.
